| Interfaces
We've taken some key decisions to ensure Aprisa SE can be
swiftly integrated into your existing and future networks
without the need for external third party multiplexer equipment.
Aprisa provides a wide range of in-built interfaces to transport
voice, data and Internet traffic.
Interface options available include:
• 2-Wire subscriber (PCM/ADPCM)
• 2-Wire exchange (PCM/ADPCM)
• 4-Wire E&M (PCM/ADPCM)
• Ethernet bridge 10/100Base-T (UTP)
• Fractional E1 – 2 Mbps G.703/4
• V.24/RS-232 low-speed async serial data
• High-speed sync serial data
Customer Interface Card
Different mixtures of these interfaces may be combined on
a Customer Interface Card (CIC) to support different applications.

To manage distribution of the traffic capacity
to the interfaces, Aprisa SE has been designed with an embedded
micro cross-connect switch. This enables traffic to be reconfigured
as network demands change, and supports ‘drop and insert’
grooming of channels from E1 bearers.

| Configuration and management
Aprisa SE is simple to install and commission using the PC-based
Aprisa Setup™ software.
A full graphical user interface makes it easy to configure
radio frequency, interface and cross-connect parameters and
add site details. Full-range performance monitoring information
is displayed to allow antenna alignment, link commissioning
and ongoing monitoring without the need for external test
equipment. The local-remote feature allows the whole link
to be viewed and monitored at one time.
A comprehensive range of alarms is provided
to aid link diagnosis. These alarms can also be used to trigger
major and minor relay output events for external monitoring.
Aprisa SE can be managed and monitored from remote locations
across a wide area network, allowing technicians to diagnose
faults and performance issues before going into the field.
Aprisa View™
is the Network Management System (NMS) developed by 4RF Communications
for the management and monitoring from a central location
of multiple Aprisa SE links. The Windows® based software
is easy to use, runs on a standard PC or laptop, and operates
on any IP-based management network. Aprisa View is quickly
deployed into an existing network and may be purchased pre-installed
on a Windows-based PC or laptop, or as software only for installation
by the user.

| Performance
Aprisa has been designed with enhanced features to provide
robust, reliable, ‘carrier-class’ transmission
performance for long and challenging paths. Reed Solomon forward
error correction (FEC) delivers exceptional data integrity
while the multi-tap equalizers optimize Aprisa’s multi-path
performance. Advanced digital filters provide optimum protection
against adjacent channel interference, allowing you to maximize
frequency reuse.
With frequency resources becoming limited and
expensive we have maximized data throughput with support for
16, 32 and 64 QAM modulations.

| Aprisa SE Protected Radio Link
The Aprisa SE Protected Radio Link provides a dependable
radio-backup system that secures equipment availability to
increase network reliability. It has been engineered for mission-critical
telecommunications (where link availability is paramount)
and for remote or inaccessible installations that need to
sustain traffic for long periods before equipment servicing
is possible.
The protected radio terminal consists of two
standard Aprisa SE terminals interconnected by an Aprisa™
MHSB Switch. The switch is housed in a 1U chassis, and
is typically mounted between the Aprisa SE terminals. It is
controlled by a CPU that monitors the condition of the Aprisa
radios and responds to a preset combination of alarm conditions
that could indicate a failure in the radio equipment.
Aprisa Setup™, the PC-based
configuration, monitoring and maintenance tool, is used to
configure the terminals to work in MHSB mode. The Aprisa MHSB
Switch requires no configuration. The protected terminals may
also be integrated to allow switch events to be reported within
the Aprisa View™ NMS software. Discrete alarm
outputs are provided from the protection switch to indicate
protected terminal health.
