Key radio-based industrial and utility SCADA questions today revolve around capacity, security, and spectrum availability. Current SCADA systems today do a very good job of monitoring the process, but the communications network used to carry this vital information is often invisible. The network is fundamental to the operation of all remote systems, yet this foundational link is many times left unmonitored. The session will examine the options available to integrate the performance information from communications devices into the current SCADA host, as well as see examples of progress being made on new high speed SCADA radio technology in the traditional VHF/UHF and 900 MHz bands. It will also contain some of the common themes in today's SCADA environment including IP and security.
