Aprisa XE

Challenges can be good. Choose the Aprisa XE

The Aprisa XE excels in making even the most challenging links possible. Here are some examples of the challenges the Aprisa XE has overcome:

Harsh environments

The main environmental problems faced by radio links are rain, windstorms such as Harmattan and Khamsin, ducting, and storms and typhoons. Where other products fail under such harsh conditions, the Aprisa XE remains relatively unaffected and maintains the link. Its key advantage is the use of sub 3 GHz frequency bands, enabling the Aprisa XE to provide increased signal availability compared to higher frequency links.

Obstructed paths

It is often expected that high reliability point-to-point linking requires obstruction-free paths. The Aprisa XE is the exception.

The design features and performance of the Aprisa XE allow the provision of carrier-class linking over paths with significant levels of obstruction, previously only considered linkable through alternative technologies, such as VSAT. 4RF has been very successful in linking near non-line-of-sight and other heavily obstructed paths, often achieving performance in excess of previous installed systems and other alternative technologies.

Congested spectrum

The Aprisa XE is highly spectrally efficient, and makes the best use of available spectrum with modulation options from QPSK to 128 QAM. Its range of bandwidths, superior adjacent and co-channel performance, and other features makes best use of tight spectrum allocations. Frequency re-use is improved by allowing high levels of adjacent channel or co-channel links in the same region or site. In recent testing by a major navy, the Aprisa XE outperformed all competing products in adjacent channel performance.

Over-water links

Deploying links over large bodies of water can cause problems with multi-path effects due to signal reflection. Good path performance starts with good path planning but the Aprisa XE’s powerful transversal feed forward fractionally spaced equaliser aided by multi-tap decision feedback helps combats multipath and mitigates these effects. You can read about one challenging over-water link, to a constantly moving floating platform, in our “Offshore Link” technical case study.
